Hello everyone,
I'm Matt Spencer, the founder of MotoCoverz. I started this journey in June 2023, and I can't believe how quickly our little company has become popular among the motorcycle community. MotoCoverz isn't a giant factory pumping out thousands of generic products every day. Instead, it's just me, working from my kitchen to create bespoke seat covers that add a personal touch to your rides.
What's the Story Behind MotoCoverz?
Every seat cover you purchase from MotoCoverz is handmade by yours truly. Imagine me, hunched over the kitchen table, carefully crafting each piece while my supportive wife looks on with a mix of pride and mild annoyance. Despite the growth we've seen, MotoCoverz is still run the same way. These days, I often find myself working late into the evenings or early in the mornings while my wife and kids are asleep. It's a balancing act, especially with two other jobs to juggle in this British cost of living crisis, but it's all worth it. Offering a wide variety of styles, colour choices and an option to select your preferred strap style have all been key contributors to MotoCoverz being where we are today.
Who runs your website and social channels?
The answer is simple: I do it all myself. Fortunately, my background in website development made that aspect easier for me. Social media, on the other hand, has been more of a challenge. I'm not as skilled in that area, but I'm learning, albeit slowly.
Why Did You Start MotoCoverz?
I’ve worked with sheepskin for 15-20 years, primarily as a sales representative for my family business. Motorcycles have always been a passion of mine, but life kept getting in the way, and I never found the time to learn. That changed two years ago, and I fell in love with motorcycling as I knew I would. I began thinking about how I could combine my work experience with my newfound love for motorbikes, and that’s how MotoCoverz was born.
Have you recieved any recognition or accolades?
In just a year, MotoCoverz has started to make some waves. We've been nominated for Best International Exporter at the North Devon Business Action Awards, and we're also finalists in the Maker and Creator category at the Great British Entrepreneur Awards. These nominations are a huge honour and a testament to the hard work and passion that goes into every seat cover.
So, what’s Next for MotoCoverz?
With the recent nominations, there’s a real buzz about the potential for further growth. My dream is to move MotoCoverz from my kitchen table to a dedicated premises or workshop. This would allow me to meet the growing demand while maintaining the same high standards of craftsmanship and personal touch that our customers love, however being just a year into this journey means I have no idea if demand will stay as it is, so it's a bit of a waiting came before I start making bigger financial commitments.
Finally, what do you ride?
My first bike was a Yamaha YBR125, which I eventually upgraded to a Yamaha YZF 600R Thundercat. This trusty Thundercat is my daily commuter, complete with a top box for transporting seat cover orders from home to the post office. Recently, I treated myself to my dream bike, a Honda CBR 929 FireBlade. I feel incredibly blessed and lucky to finally own the bike I’ve always wanted.
A Heartfelt Thank You
From the bottom of my heart, I really want to thank you all. I've never truly felt capable of building something of my own. I've built lots of things for other people but never for myself. Your kind words, understanding, and support from customers, social media followers, and my closest family have made me feel like it’s all worthwhile.

Matt Spencer
