What if it rains?
What if it rains?
At MotoCoverz.com, we take pride in providing high-quality sheepskin seat pads designed to enhance your comfort during every ride. While dye run is a rare occurrence—happening only once in over a thousand orders—we understand your concerns. To help you keep your seat pad in perfect condition and avoid potential dye run, please review the following tips:
How to Avoid Dye Run:
-
Avoid Riding in Wet Weather: Sheepskin seat pads are most susceptible to dye run when exposed to moisture. If you find yourself riding in wet conditions, especially during heavy downpours, we recommend stopping at a safe location to remove your seat cover until the weather clears up.
-
Remove the Cover When Parking: When parking, always remove the seat pad if there is any chance of rain or damp conditions.
-
Be Mindful of Seat Colour Differences: If your seat is a lighter colour (white, light grey, or other light shades), be particularly cautious about the weather when using darker seat pads, such as black.
-
Use a Waterproofing Spray: Apply a waterproofing spray designed for natural fibres like sheepskin. This can provide an added layer of protection against moisture, reducing the risk of dye run. Always test the spray on a small, inconspicuous area first to ensure it does not affect the sheepskin’s colour or texture.
-
Regular Inspection and Maintenance: Regularly check your seat pad for any signs of dye transfer or discolouration. If you notice any dye run, clean the affected area immediately with a damp cloth and mild soap to prevent staining on your seat.
-
Proper Storage When Not in Use: When not in use, store your sheepskin seat pad in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight and moisture. This will help maintain the condition of the pad and reduce the risk of dye run over time.
For Long-Distance Riders:
For customers using our sheepskin seat pads on long tours, where comfort and prevention of a sore bottom are the only things that matter, we highly recommend opting for our undyed natural skins. These natural pads provide the same level of comfort while eliminating any concerns about dye run, no matter how regularly or intensely they are used.
Important Notice:
Please note: MotoCoverz is not responsible for any effects on gear, seats, or leathers if dye run occurs.
In the single instance we have had of dye run, the sheepskin seat pad was exposed to severe torrential rain while unattended for a prolonged period. The cover was black, placed on a light grey Alcantara seat, and had been used many times before the unfortunate incident. It's safe to say MotoCoverz and the customer came to a mutual agreement that the customer was more than happy with.
By following these guidelines, you can fully enjoy the comfort and benefits of your sheepskin seat pad while minimizing any risk of dye run. If you have further questions or need additional assistance, please get in touch with us at motocoverz@gmail.com. We’re here to help make every ride as comfortable as possible!
